Great Lakes United Tall Ships Challenge 2010
The American Sail Training Association has partnered with GREAT LAKES UNITED to bring a fleet of international tall ships to the Great Lakes, the world’s largest body of fresh water, as part of the Great Lakes United TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE 2010 race series. Bark EUROPA will race through all five Great Lakes making port appearances in cities throughout the US and Canada.
Worldwide Sail Training Ships can take part in this sensational Great Lakes United Tall Ship Challenge. Everyone on board will do watches together with the crew; taking the helm, lookout at the bow, setting, getting sails down and furling the square sails on the yards. The crew will explain as much as possible. After a few days, most will know where every halyard, sheet or brace is supposed to be fastened. Hundreds of nautical miles will be sailed in this unforgettable race. Bark EUROPA will participate in the following legs:
