1102 Newsletter Bark EUROPA February 2011
We are pleased to send you herewith the latest edition of our newsletter. At this moment the ship is sailing one of her last Antarctic voyages of this season. In this letter we are unfolding our plans for coming fall and the new Antarctic season. Next to that you can read about Oceanites, a research organisation on Antarctica.
Oceanites “ocean-eye-tees”
Research foundation Oceanites is active on Antarctica. This science and educational foundation intends to foster the conservation of the world’s oceans, islands, and their wildlife, as well as a better appreciation of the sensitive connections we humans have to our watery globe. The foundation researches different penguin colonies who live on Antarctica. This year the Rederij Bark EUROPA will donate EUR 15,- of every Antarctica booking. In this way we support the research of this organisation. Please see www.oceanites.org for more details.

Centennial voyage to Antarctica
In our 10th (!) season to Antarctica we have planned a very special voyage. With EUROPA's Centennial year, our first voyage will be a special Centennial expedition that starts on the Falkland Islands. We will visit South Georgia before heading to the White Continent. When possible there will also be a stopover on the South Orkneys. The voyage will end in Ushuaia, Argentina. It will be a 34 day trip starting December 10th 2011 until January 12th 2012.
Start your Falkland voyage in Montevideo!
If you have enough time to make a slightly longer voyage we strongly recommend you to embark in Montevideo, Uruguay. You will not only save a flight ticket to the Falkland Islands, but spend three nights on board the bark EUROPA on the Falkland Islands as well, giving time to explore the Islands.

One of our former voyage crew member and Falkland Island expert, Jan Hoekstra, has offered to arrange guided tours across the area. If you are interested please contact him via email: dedwaalgast@hotmail.com
New Antarctic schedule
After the Centennial voyage, the Bark EUROPA will sail twice from Ushuaia for a 22- day expedition to Antarctica. The final voyage will be the 52-day voyage from Ushuaia via the Weddel sea to Cape Town with a visit to South Georgia and Tristan da Cunha (weather permitting).
Digital brochures are available for all voyages mentioned above. Please contact us if you want to receive more information or a brochure. Also check our sailing schedule for our voyages during the fall, starting in the Netherlands onwards to South America.
With best regards,
Rederij Bark EUROPA
