Logbook

Hello all,

POS: 55*03.70 S 66*38.30 W
COG: 309
SOG: 3 - 4
WND: NNW 1

From the shadows of the fog
Cape Horn showed her feet this morning
Proud Cliffs embraced by a pounding Sea

A layer of low clouds left the rest to our imagination
3 miles we were from her.
She's magic,
The setting is magic,
the thought is magic
even when she just shows her goddess's feet

Time to go home now
As we changed course she directly dropped her foggy dress and vanished.

All were excited.
The wind was scouting
Birds were identified and counted.

I gave the watch to Hans and took a short nap.
A few hours later I almost rolled out of my bunk.

The wind had found us and gave a strong following blast.
The Bark ran at 10+ knots.

We made excellent progress.
As the wind got more excited
Crew went up to furl several squares

The Sea was Jumping
and the Dolphins did the same
They jumped while they made an 180 degree turn in the air.
After some time they left us to look for new friends
The wind did the same and dissipated.

The evening was very cheerful in the Deckhouse.
The waves stopped rolling
The wind stopped hauling
and the bar opened again.
Many customers today.

Adam wanted to see the stars
I tried to point one out
He didn't see her.
Then he mentioned he did actually see many stars on Deck and looked at
us all with a big smile.

Now we run slowly to the Pilot station.

Next is Harberton.
A walk between trees and plants.
Quite odd after 20 days of Sea and Ice

We'll follow up with a Barbecue
and hopefully some live music in the deckhouse later.

Tomorrow for tomorrow and sleep for the night.
soon

Goodnight

Fair Winds, fair thoughts, fair sailing.
