Leopard Seal

While visiting Yankee Harbour, a natural harbour on the South-side of Greenwich Island in the South Shetlands, we witnessed the harsh reality of life in the Antarctic. A Leopard seal (Hydrurga leptonyx) in hunting mood, was chasing Gentoo penguins, until it succeeded catching an individual and proceeding to eat it, smashing it against the surface, getting rid of the tough skin and feathers, swallowing the meat and fat in small bits.

I would love to see this post, but there is a glitch and the text does not show, no matter what device I use to access it. All the other posts are accessible. I hope more people post more blogs! Those of us following the Europa from afar read every word, often several times. Please give a hug to my daughter Isabel Andrews, if someone on the ship is reading this.
