The Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall ships Regatta is the adventure of a lifetime and marks the 150th anniversary of the confederation. Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island, is the first Canadian port that we visit and is Canada’s “Birthplace of Confederation”. From there, we set sail and head north towards Miramichi.

On July 1st we will celebrate Canada day with a grand fireworks show. Rumour has it that it is the biggest firework of North America. We will stay in port for a few days, so next to joining the festivities, you will have time to explore the city and its surroundings. As this voyage is a cruise-in-company, and not a race, there will be plenty of time to enjoy not only the sailing and life on board, but also the amazing nature of Canada.

Situated along the world-famous salmon fishing river, the city of Miramichi offers cultural experiences that allow you to discover the heritage of the region and its people. If you’ve ever tangled with the mighty Atlantic salmon, you know the fish tales are true. Maybe you will catch your own salmon on board!

French settlers explored the fertile lands in the early 1600s, led by Samuel de Champlain and other explorers. Their descendants – the Acadians – still call this area home today and their vibrant culture can be experienced up and down the Acadian coast and throughout the province. Miramichi is proud of its First Nations heritage and the ongoing cultural enrichment provided by the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet people; the indigenous people in New Brunswick.

In addition to the host race ports, the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta will also visit a number of beautiful Canadian guest ports. The Guest Ports Programme is an opportunity to sample the hospitality of more than 31 different and beautiful Canadian guest ports in the region. Away from the high energy of racing and four-day host city festivities, it’s a chance for vessels to enjoy a pre-planned stop-over, and to take advantage of a programme of events and crew facilities which will be provided in each port.

During these stops, the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta fleet, professional crew members and novice sailors (you?!) will be able to celebrate this great milestone anniversary and sample the vast and diverse maritime heritage that Canada has to offer.
