Amelie is a talented and passionate Canadian sailor and musician from Quebec, Canada. She has an impressive repertoire of instruments she loves to play, including the guitar, bass, ukulele, accordion, mandolin, and banjo, showcasing her versatility and love for music.
With many years of experience as a music teacher, Amelie has developed a strong ability to convey knowledge and passion to her students. Her background as a teacher seamlessly transitions into her role on Bark Europa, where she teaches trainees everything from sail handling, good seamanship and knowledge of the ship's sails.
Before joining Bark Europa in the summer of 2021, Amelie had already accumulated significant sailing experience on various vessels, including the Oosterschelde, Ecomaris, and the tall ship Lynx. Sailing runs deep in her family history—her grandfather was a chief engineer on merchant ships, and she grew up surrounded by captivating stories of towering waves and epic storms, which sparked her own love for the sea.
Amelie is not only dedicated to sailing and music but also gives back to her community through volunteer work. She contributes to food banks and supports various research projects, demonstrating her compassion and commitment to making a positive impact. In addition to her volunteer work, Amelie has several hobbies, such as photography and playing music, which she often extends into freelance projects. Whether strumming a tune or sharing a melody, she brings an element of fun and warmth to life aboard the ship, making her a cherished presence for everyone around her.
