Since joining the Bark Europa as a cook in the spring of 2024, Shani has impressed both guests and crew with her creativity in the galley. She is known for her ability to cook a wide variety of dishes, with a special focus on vegetarian and vegan options. Her dishes are not only flavorful and inventive but also designed with sustainability in mind.
Shani's tasks on board are diverse and include meal planning, provisioning, cooking, and organizing housekeeping. Whether it’s preparing a hearty meal after a long sail or experimenting with new recipes, Shani approaches her work with passion and a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of the crew and guests.

About me:
I love being outside, with my hands in the soil or sea. My home is South Africa, but my formative years took place in the UK, so I have various European roots. My biggest passion and drive is within the agricultural landscape, in the power of food to propel us into a better future - its potential is immense!
And I like to connect this with the sea, via sailing, bringing sailors and farmers, closer together. How we grow food and provision ships can make a big difference to ourselves and the world. Day-to-day, I like to jump (quite literally) from the land (in)to the sea, and back again. Waterfalls, mountains, and deserts are pretty cool too. Oh yes, and I love gherkins and grenadillas.
