As a barhand on board Bark EUROPA, you're at the heart of the crew and the ship, connecting with guests and creating a warm and welcoming environment. In addition to serving drinks and assisting the galley, barhands supervise the household duties. With close daily interaction, barhands have the unique opportunity to engage with our guests, sharing stories and listening to their stories. Duties and responsibilities
- Active communication with guests
- Responsible for the proper handling of all beverages and food in the bar area, as well as all products and equipment in the bar department.
- Bar bill administration
- Responsible for the general cleanliness of the interior and laundry
- Performs cleaning duties and cabin cleaning routines
- Responsible for the stock control of the bar on board
- Responsible for selling merchandise and orders
Qualifications and requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality
- Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality and professional appearance
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Maintain a clean working area in compliance with HACCP rules and company standards.
- Must be able to effectively handle complex situations, including managing interactions with guests.
- Thrives in a varied and hectic working day
- Able to deal with physical workload
- Able to work long hours a day, seven days a week.
- Previous maritime experience is an advantage.
Minimum required certificates
- Dutch seamansbook or seamansbook recognized by the Dutch authorities
- Seafarer's medical certificate
