Meet Guus Klunder, an experienced general practitioner who has been working as GP since 1999. In addition to his extensive experience as a GP, he completed two years of surgical training during his medical education, gaining experience in surgery and working in both the emergency department and intensive care unit.
To further expand his medical knowledge, Guus completed courses in Ocean Medicine and Advanced Trauma Life Support. These have helped prepare him for the medical challenges that can arise at sea.
After closing his medical practice, Guus had hoped to travel more and explore opportunities to work as a ship’s doctor. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and various personal circumstances meant that he had to put these plans on hold. Now, with those circumstances behind him, he is ready to embrace new adventures and hopes to fulfil a long-held dream: sailing aboard Bark EUROPA.
During his time on board, Guus will help look after the medical well-being of our passengers, providing valuable medical support throughout the voyage. We’re delighted to welcome him to EUROPA and are very happy to add him to our team of ship’s doctors!
