Olle is a Swedish sailor and experienced rigger with a lifelong passion for traditional sailing ships. He first stepped aboard small Swedish schooners as a trainee in his early teens and was already sailing as a watchleader by the age of 16 or 17.
Since finishing high school, he has worked on several traditional vessels, including the Danish training ship Georg Stage, the Swedish training ship TS Gunilla and the tall ship Götheborg. More recently, he has also been sailing aboard the expedition vessel MS Virgo, exploring the waters around Svalbard and Tromsø.
Alongside his sailing experience, Olle works as a head rigger, taking care of major winter maintenance projects and ensuring the rigging and everything above deck is ready for the summer sailing season. He also spends his time maintaining three Swedish ketch-rigged sailing vessels: Gratitude, Atlantica and Gratia.
Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, Olle is currently living in the outdoorsy town of Volda, Norway, where he enjoys the surrounding nature. In his free time, you’ll most likely find him skiing, hiking, climbing, kayaking or sailing. He also plays the guitar, piano and occasionally the accordion.
With his passion for traditional sailing ships, hands-on rigging experience and love of outdoor adventures, Olle is looking forward to his next adventure at sea with the EUROPA team.
