Bora Bora: the pearl of the Pacific delivered more wind
The pearl of the Pacific delivered more wind… and with Mount Otemanu towering over us we cruised into the famous lagoon. Adventure awaited!
Some cycled around the 33km’s, others dived and many took an outrigger canoe to the edge of the surrounding barrier reef to snorkel with the giant stingray’s… willing to swim up into everyone’s arms.
On the outer side of the reef past the peeling breakers smashing onto the reef, we entered the water again, to be surrounded by Black tipped reef sharks. These sleek and graceful creatures glided past us, barely moving yet swimming so fast, showing us how they have mastered the aquatic world and that their missile shape cuts through the multiple shades of blue that we snorkel in.
With the Polynesian way connecting all the islands we visit, we learned more about ‘Oro. The great god Taputapuatea was dedicated to. How his sisters found him a wife, Vairaumati, and as he descended from the sky he made the first rainbow appear.
