Towards Pitcairn Isle
A sea shanty
Sailing a tall ship, a beautiful vessel
To handle the sails I need both skill and muscle
Where is the halyard and what does this rope do
Someone could teach me a nice trick or two
Chorus:
We’re making our way towards Pitcairn Isle
With westerly winds it’s still many a mile
It’s been a long day sailing the high seas
But now I’m off watch and get to sing shanties
Unfurling the jibs is like playing twister
Sweating a loose rope I get one more blister
I stumble around and have bruises all over
I must have misplaced my ol’ four-leaf clover
I climb up the main mast for golden hour
And go on look out for a meteor shower
Satellites, warships, red lights in the sky
Then quiet again, the full moon up high
Is it now Sunday or is that tomorrow
Time passes so slow I forget every sorrow
We’re doing just two knots but this is the way
Pitcairn’s out there and we’ll get there one day
