Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all technical systems on board, the engineers' life on board is mainly focused in the dungeons. From engines and generators to plumbing and electrical systems, engineers keep EUROPA running efficiently in diverse and often challenging conditions. This page will summarize the duties and responsibilities expected of our engineers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Performing daily checks of machinery (problem detection).
- Keeping systems up and running by performing maintenance, repair and emergency repair activities.
- Control of parts inventory on board: planning and ordering of spare parts and consumables
- Ensure compliance with international and local maritime legislation and regulations.
- Part of the fire fighting team
Qualifications and requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as engineer
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Being able to handle emergencies onboard effectively
Minimum required certificates
- Dutch seamansbook or seamansbook recognized by the Dutch authorities
- Seafarer's medical certificate
