Logbook

The mist surrounds us as we go ashoreOur last destination to exploreWe wish we had just one day more!Penguins and seals greet us as we arrive,Antarctica is very much aliveHiking higher and higher thru the mistWe are suddenly treated to a sunny glacial riftOff the distance our three mast ship callsAs we ease our way back avoiding stumbles and fallsWe unfurl the sails, make ready the shipFor it's time to cross the Drake at a nice steady clipNow the passage is clear, the night is aglowAs the full moon leads us the way homeAnd then sailing the Drake, trying to stay awakeOne o'clock in the night, course 345oSmell of fresh bread keeps us aliveUnder our arm the yellow bucket awaitsFor some of us, as we cross the unforgiving drakeDreaming of all the wonders of naturePenguins, whales and calving glaciersThe waves of Drake are sharp and highAs we wave Antarctica goodbye
