Research on board

As researcher, you play a crucial role in conducting marine research, from studying wildlife to monitoring environmental changes. This position requires a passion for science, adaptability and teamwork in remote conditions. The research contributes to ocean conservation and enhances the voyage experience for all on board.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Participate in Daywatch (8AM-8PM), dividing time between research and ship duties
  • Prepares research project, workshops, blogs, photography and interaction with voyage crew
  • Assists with daily ship operations, including, cleaning and galley duties
  • Assists with sail maneuvering when required
  • Engages the voyage crew in the research projects to enhance awareness of ocean conservation and foster mutual learning

Qualifications and requirements

  • Guest focused, service oriented, positive personality and professional appearance
  • Willingness to actively involve voyage crew in your research, answering questions and encouraging participation
  • Strong communication skills to connect with diverse individuals
  • Enthusiasm for organizing workshops, discussions or events that foster awareness about marine science and the state of the oceans
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Willingness to take responsibility and be flexible
  • Ability to participate in emergency response plan
  • Being a teamplayer
  • Comfortable living in close quarters with other sailors
Research on board

Minimum required certificates

  1. Seafarer's medical certificate
  2. Relevant qualifications in marine research or related scientific field
  3. Prior experience in conducting research in marine or fieldwork settings is a plus
