Become a crewmember
As researcher, you play a crucial role in conducting marine research, from studying wildlife to monitoring environmental changes. This position requires a passion for science, adaptability and teamwork in remote conditions. The research contributes to ocean conservation and enhances the voyage experience for all on board.
Duties and responsibilities
- Participate in Daywatch (8AM-8PM), dividing time between research and ship duties
- Prepares research project, workshops, blogs, photography and interaction with voyage crew
- Assists with daily ship operations, including, cleaning and galley duties
- Assists with sail maneuvering when required
- Engages the voyage crew in the research projects to enhance awareness of ocean conservation and foster mutual learning
Qualifications and requirements
- Guest focused, service oriented, positive personality and professional appearance
- Willingness to actively involve voyage crew in your research, answering questions and encouraging participation
- Strong communication skills to connect with diverse individuals
- Enthusiasm for organizing workshops, discussions or events that foster awareness about marine science and the state of the oceans
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Willingness to take responsibility and be flexible
- Ability to participate in emergency response plan
- Being a teamplayer
- Comfortable living in close quarters with other sailors
Minimum required certificates
- Seafarer's medical certificate
- Relevant qualifications in marine research or related scientific field
- Prior experience in conducting research in marine or fieldwork settings is a plus
