Moonlight during the dogwatch

Being on dogwatch is not my favourite. It means that you will be on watch from midnight to four o’clock in the morning and then again from midday to four o’clock. I find it a bit tricky to get enough sleep, and there is no way I get up for breakfast. But last night was magical. During the last few days, the skies were quite cloudy or overcast, and during night there was not much to see. But in time for the full moon, it suddenly cleared. The Southern Cross constellation was well visible high above us. And we got graced by fabulous full moon, that covered the Bark Europa in a ghostly light, casting shadows of the sails onto the deck. It felt like a scene from a famous pirate film franchise. The best time to be awake.
