Familiarisation

We had already started the watch system the afternoon before, and we were done with our first night watch. The day started with more sail training; there was a lot to learn and get familiar with. Ayla talked us through climbing in the rigging and what to be aware of. Then we had to show Christiaan our physical abilities to be fit for climbing in the rigging; one squat and hanging from a bar. The day went on with more sail training and discussing ropes and sails trying our best to learn all the names and positions. Every now and then music was played, was it Lizze on the Sloop deck, or Moritz or Clara from their cabins? Or maybe Will on his clarinet. The sound of musical instruments in the air makes for a nice atmosphere onboard. We were slowly getting into to the rhythm of ship life and the continuous horizon of blue ocean surrounding us.
