Iceberg Graveyard

In between Trinity Island and Spert Island lies a place where many icebergs find their last resting place: the Iceberg Graveyard.
This morning we did a zodiac cruise in between those grounded massive blocks of ice, and it was an unbelievable experience.
Thousands shades of blue and white were at stark contrast with the dark colours of the high rocks marking the passage between the islands. This resulted in some beautiful shots, especially as some Weddell Seals were resting on the icy blocks.
We found icebergs in all sorts of sizes and shapes. Due to the current and shallow ground in the passage between the islands, they get stuck here and stay for us to view.

As we were cruising back to Europa we saw her lying next to a big glacier. Everything feels so big and nature feels so powerful here, it’s hard to comprehend. Yesterday, we visited the still active volcanic caldera of Deception Island where steam was coming from the ground, today we cruised in-between massive frozen blocks of water. What a place!
