Light at the end of the Drake Passage
The Drake Passage is behind us.
Life cannot get any better
The Drake Passage is behind us. It feels almost odd to be able to step off your bed with your wool socks on, without suddenly downhill skiing across the cabin and smashing into the wall on the other side. The food has stopped attacking you from the table. Walking from one end of the ship to another is no more a mountaineering exercise. It feels like a whole another world. The sea and the wind have calmed down. The galley board has a big smiley and a message “You survived!” The sun is rising behind us and we can see lush green islands in front. Just when we think life cannot get any better, two dolphins appear, swimming and jumping on the side of Bark Europa in the morning sun. This is almost too good to be true.
