Our most musical captain! After his first voyage on board in 1993, Hans started working on board in 2002 as engineer. After his trips on board EUROPA, Hans followed his heart to the North of Europe, to Finland.
Over the years, Hans continued to pursue his maritime calling, working on tugboats and later sailing as captain on board tall ship ‘Gunilla’. His love for the ocean and life at sea brought him back to the Europa in 2023, where he now serves as one of our Captains. His wealth of experience, has made him a respected leader on board, guiding the ship with confidence and calm.
But what truly sets Hans apart is his musical talent. Beyond his responsibilities as Captain, Hans is an entertainer who brings a special magic to the ship. As the sun sets and guests gather to enjoy their evening drink, Hans often takes the time to share his love of sea shanties, playing his violin that connects everyone to the spirit of the sea. His music creates a sense of community, drawing people together and making the sunsets on board even more unforgettable. Hans’ warmth, his love of adventure, and his musical soul make him not just a Captain, but a beloved figure among the crew and guests.
When he is not on board, he plays in a band and rides motorcycles.
