Antarctica Expeditions 2023/2024

This season we will have four Antarctica trips, including a 50-day Scotia Arc expedition and three 22-day Antarctica voyages. This season there will be no Cape to Cape expedition. The next Cape to Cape expedition will be early 2025. Nevertheless, we hope the 50-day Scotia Arc expedition, with a visit to the Falklands/Las Malvinas, South Georgia and Antarctica, will offer a great alternative this season with fantastic wildlife, hiking and sailing opportunities.

Scotia Arc voyage
On our longer sailing voyage to the Falklands Islands / Las Malvinas and South Georgia, please don't forget that sailing is a huge part of the experience. The Southern Ocean is infamous for its roughness and the amount of sailing days on the Scotia Arc voyage (+28 sailing days) should not be overlooked. It is a fantastic experience, where you'll learn more about all the aspects of seaman's life and get the chance to visit remote locations and experience its beautiful wildlife.

This trip hits you very hard in an emotional way. You may think that you understand what you are going through and seeing while you are on the trip -but that is not the case. In the weeks and months after the being on the Bark Europa you begin to fully realize that this kind of experience was unique to the point that it will probably not be duplicated ever again in your global travels. It is an over the top experience.

Antarctica Expeditions 2024/2025

The Antarctic Expeditions of 2024/2025 are open for bookings! Sail with us to the magical white continent!

To ensure a smooth booking process we have set some guidelines to help you book an Antarctic expedition on board Bark EUROPA.

  • All bookings and optional reservations should be made individually. Only booking forms that include full personal details and health statements will be processed.
  • Complete booking forms and health statements have priority over optional reservations. We will first process the complete bookings and then continue with the optional bookings.
  • Two persons cabins are only reserved for bookings of two persons and can't be booked by single bookers unless they pay for a full cabin (2 persons).
  • We will not have a waiting list. Instead, we have a separate mailing list to keep you up to date on the availability. All sailors that show interest will be added to this mailing list.

Long voyages
On our longer sailing voyages of the Scotia Arc voyage and the Cape to Cape, please don't forget that sailing is a huge part of the experience. The Southern Ocean is infamous for its roughness and the amount of sailing days should not be overlooked. It is a fantastic experience, where you'll learn more about all the aspects of seaman's life and get the chance to visit remote locations and experience its beautiful wildlife.

Health statement, preferences and extra notes

  • Bark Europa only has 3 two persons cabins. Two persons cabins are of the same standard as the shared cabins and offer no extra luxuries or room. The extra privacy is its main advantage. When two person cabins are sold out and two sailors book a shared cabin instead, they can make a note of their preference for a private cabin, so we can contact them in case of cancellations.
  • Meal options on board are non-vegetarian or vegetarian. Due to the limited size of our galley and storage room all other meal requirements and allergies need to be checked with our cook first before we can confirm a booking. A vegan diet cannot be catered for on board Europa.
  • Being fit and healthy is extremely important when undertaking a voyage on a sailing and moving vessel in remote areas where no extra medical care is available. Safety is our number one priority. In addition to the health statement in the booking form, we ask our sailors aged 65 or over to submit a statement from their physician. This can be found here. Our Antarctica voyages are not available for sailors of 73 years or older.
  • Your answers on the health statement are used to inform the captain and/or the ships doctor when available on your voyage, so we expect you to keep them accurate and inform us of any changes between the moment of booking and the moment of embarkation.
  • You cannot sail on Europa if you are pregnant or diabetic. Bookings of sailors that use heart medication or blood thinners or have had treatment in the last years that has influenced your immune system will require that we seek advice for our team of ships doctors about the suitability of the different voyages.
