voyage preparation

Get ready for your voyage with Bark EUROPA! To ensure that you go on board fully prepared, we have listed some important matters that you can take care of in the lead-up to your adventure.

When you book your flights, please allow for some extra time to avoid any problems with embarkation in case of delays, lost luggage etc. Please plan to arrive at two days prior to your scheduled embarkation. Also, keep in mind that you take enough time between disembarkation and your flight home, preferably a flight one or more days later. If you do want to fly the same day of disembarkation, we advise you to book a flight end of the day.

Visa and Insurances

It is your own responsibility to arrange the correct visa for all countries you visit when travelling to, from and on the ship. Please check with the embassy of the countries you’re visiting to see if you need to arrange any visa or permit.

When wandering the world, it is important to be properly insured in case of a setback. When booking a voyage on board EUROPA, you need a travel insurance covering your voyage and a healthcare insurance in your own country. It is also advisable to take a cancellation insurance.

Before embarking on your voyage, please make sure if the conditions of the travel insurance you booked or already have, match with your sailing expedition on board Bark EUROPA. The most important parts are emergency assistance, repatriation in the event of serious accident or death and coverage of medical costs. For most of our voyages you will need an insurance with worldwide coverage. It is possible that an insurance mention certain forms of sailing as an exception. When in doubt, contact your insurance company. For antarctica expeditions, please make sure Antarctica is not excluded from your coverage and check if a limit is mentioned for costs of repatriation.

If often happens that you book your voyage long before the actual embarkation date. Life sometimes offers events that will ask you to cancel your booked voyage. We therefore strongly recommend you to consider a cancellation insurance that covers the non-refundable costs of your voyage fare, flight- and other travel costs. If you already have this, make sure to check if matches your current travel plans as there may be a limit to the fee covered on your policy.

In preparation for your voyage, you will be added to the community page. These pages are open only to those who booked the voyage so you can get in touch with your fellow travelers and share some tips and tricks before embarkation. Also, the packing list and all other relevant information will be posted here, for you to be perfectly prepared for your voyage!

market place

Embarking on a voyage with us requires careful consideration of the items to pack, particularly for an Antarctica expedition or ocean crossings. To ensure your safety and comfort in the face of harsh wind and ocean conditions, we recommend specific sailing gear that is designed to withstand these challenges. We understand that purchasing such gear can be a significant investment and that's why we offer a convenient marketplace for our guests to buy and sell their equipment after the trip. This way, you can acquire the necessary gear for your voyage without having to worry about its future use.
