Damage

On her first voyage to the Antarctica, the Europa sails through Magellan Straight, Beagle Channel, visiting Puerto Williams and have a stop at the famous Cape Horn before she starts with the actual crossing to the White continent.  Reaching the top of the Rock, it was discovered that only a few days before, the Monument on the Cape Horn was destroyed by the force of the wind. The monument is a large sculpture featuring the silhouette of an Albatross in honour of the sailors who died while attempting to 'round the Horn'. It was erected in 1992 through the initiative of the Chilean section of the Cape Horn Captains Brotherhood.
